From The President
If you attended Wednesday evening’s Installation of Officers at the Crofton Country Club, you heard some good news about your Chamber. In a time when most chambers are feeling the pinch of these tough economic times, we’ve held our own, and we remain on solid footing financially and in number of members. I can readily remember as we struggled to hit 200 in our membership. Now, we are at 260.
I cannot help but credit the Chamber’s leadership for this remarkable milestone. For the past four years, Bob Carr has led this Chamber with a “no-nonsense, let’s-get-it-done” attitude which has served us well. Our Executive Director, Judy Wilson, has been the stalwart, there each and every day, making herself available to promote our agenda and assist the membership.
And what is our agenda? It’s quite simply “whatever benefits the membership.”
We have mixers – enjoyable events which provide our members a chance to promote themselves, network with one another, and just have fun. We don’t charge for mixers – many chambers do.
If you’re new to the Crofton area, we’ll assist you with a Grand Opening or Grand Re-Opening. We will advertise for you, involve our area local elected officials, and show up for a ribbon-cutting to welcome you to our Chamber. Again, there is no charge.
Our newsletter and our web site (www.croftonchamber.com) will provide you with relevant and helpful information; serve as vehicles to get your message out for upcoming events; and provide a cost-effective means of advertisement.
We continue to look for ways to serve our membership. In the next few months, watch for announce¬ments for our Annual Shrimp Feast as well as opportunities to play some golf and eat ice cream.
And while we are trying to do all that we can, do not ever hesitate to contact me or any of the Board if you have a question or concern. If we don’t have an answer, we’ll get one. YOU are the reason we exist, and we will do everything possible to keep Crofton the best area to live and operate a business.
Tom Locke
